On 1st August 2020 Bassetlaw District Council launched a 12 month enforcement pilot with District Enforcement Ltd. The purpose of the enforcement pilot is to increase the visibility of enforcement across the district in relation to littering and dog fouling. Feedback from businesses and from the public at engagement events indicated that an increased level of visible enforcement would be of benefit in terms of improving the appearance of the district and therefore creating a more desirable environment for residents, shoppers and visitors alike.

As we are now ten months into the pilot we are undertaking a formal public consultation to obtain the views of the public with regards to the enforcement pilot. These views will then be used to decide if a longer enforcement project would be beneficial to the district.

To date 2978 fixed penalty notices have been issued for littering and 65 for dog fouling.
