Please complete this form to apply for entry onto the Bassetlaw Self Build and Custom Housebuilding Register. Some of the questions are mandatory and need to be completed in order to allow your application to proceed. Mandatory questions are identified by an asterisk (*). It is recommended that you provided as much information as possible to help the Council better assess your self-build preferences and requirements.
• You will only be eligible for entry in the register if you are:
o Aged 18 or over;
o A British citizen, a national of an EEA state other than the United Kingdom, or a national of Switzerland; and
o Have paid the relevant fees set by Bassetlaw District Council
o Seeking (either alone or with others) to acquire a serviced plot of land within the Bassetlaw Local Planning Authority area to build a house to occupy as your sole or main residence
And if you have:
• lived in the district as your main place of residence for the last consecutive three years.; or
• been permanently employed in Bassetlaw for the last three years.; or
• lived in the district as your main place of residence for at least 5 out of the last fifteen years and have close family, defined as parents/legal guardians, siblings and or adult children, who have lived in the district as their main place of residence for the last consecutive five years.;
You will only be eligible if you can provide the following evidence:
Proof of address and residence:
• UK Provisional/Full Driving Licence
• Council tax bills (showing residence over time)
• Utility bills or bank statements from the current year
• TV Licence from the current year
Proof of employer/employment status:
• Current employment contract showing permanent employment
• A letter from your employer on headed paper showing start date
Proof of address and residency of close family:
• UK Provisional/Full Driving Licence
• Council tax bills (showing residence over time)
• Utility bills or bank statements from the current year
• TV Licence from the current year
Any person in the service of the Armed Forces of the Crown, spouses, or civil partners of current members of the Armed Forces, spouses, or civil partners of a deceased member of the Armed Forces (if their death was wholly or partly caused by their service) and veterans within five years of leaving the Armed Forces. Proof of Armed Forces status will be required:
• HM Armed Forces Veteran Card
• Proof of Army ID card and letter from employer on headed paper showing start date
And if you can demonstrate that you will have sufficient resources to purchase land to build your own self-build/ custom build home. You will only be eligible if you can demonstrate:
o An offer for a self-build mortgage from a verifiable lender. Evidence must show that funds are available for the purchase of land and the build of the property; or
o Written confirmation and evidence from a qualified financial advisor that is a member of an appropriate professional financial body, which clearly outlines that you have sufficient readily accessible funds/savings/investments/equity to purchase land and build a self-build and custom property
o Any other information that demonstrates to the Council’s satisfaction that you have sufficient resources to purchase land and build your own self-build and custom house
• If there are two or more members in your household then please only submit one form. The named person will become the ‘lead contact’ whose name and address will, should your submission be accepted, be included on the register.
• Should you be submitting details of a group/association, you will be required to provide the eligibility information for each member where these differ from that of the lead contact.
• Applicants will be notified in writing within 28 days of the application being received if they qualify for Part 1 or Part 2 of the Register. Applicants that have been unsuccessful for entry onto Part 1 of the Register will be notified in writing and reasons will be given why they are not considered eligible.
• Individuals will only be eligible for Part 1 of the register if you meet the Council’s local eligibility criteria including the local connection test and the financial solvency test.
• A group/association will only be eligible for Part 1 of the register if each member of the association meets all the local eligibility criteria set out above.
• All individuals or groups/associations that do not meet the local eligibility criteria will be eligible for Part 2 of the register.

There is no payment due at this stage.
The Council will contact you within 28 working days of submission to let you know the outcome of your application. Payment will be requested within 14 working days, or you will not be entered onto the register.
Duplicate applications will not be processed.
